Who are the Commanders for Israel’s Security? The Commanders are nearly 600 retired IDF generals, colonels and their equivalents across the security establishment (Mossad, Shin Bet, Police) and Diplomatic Corps. Having dedicated their lives to Israel’s security, they have standing and capacity to address the crisis Israel faces that no other group possesses. What is the crisis? Israel is being driven into a perilous suicidal rush by its current government. Eying the end of its term, the governing coalition accelerated efforts to dismantle Israel’s liberal democratic foundations while intensifying its West Bank annexation drive. Unchecked, this trajectory threatens the Zionist Project envisioned by Israel’s founders; the Israel we love. The upcoming elections on October 27 are the last chance to halt and reverse this direction.

What are the Commanders doing? Through West Bank missions, incident‑response teams, legal action, and broad media engagement, CIS leverages its unmatched credibility to command attention from decision‑makers and the public in Israel and abroad. CIS has two goals: first, hinder the pace of annexation and Jewish terrorism on the ground; second, to force the issue of a regional process to consolidate political and security arrangements with the Palestinians and the Arab States into public discourse around the elections.

Why do they need our financial support now? For many years, CIS has operated essentially as a voluntary organization. To have a real impact and help stop the madness, they are applying a dramatically enhanced level of activity and resources. In order to carry on, they need our assistance.

When and where is the information and fundraising event? A nationwide Zoom meeting will be held at 5:30 PM EDT on Monday, September 14th. A reception for Co-chairs, Hosts and Friends will be held at 4:45 PM in Washington, DC.

Who will represent the Commanders? Major General (Ret.) Gadi Shamni has served as Commander of the Gaza Division, Head of Operations at IDF General Headquarters, Military Secretary to two Prime Ministers, Commanding Officer of IDF Central Command (West Bank) and Military Attache to the U.S. Dr. Brigadier General (Ret.) Jonatan (Yoni) Shimshoni served for 25 years in the IDF, in field command and staff positions, culminating his service as Director of Planning for the General Staff. At different times during his service Shimshoni commanded a field artillery brigade as well as the Tul Karem Sector of the West Bank.
